In addition to the topical program, the full registration fee includes light lunches, refreshments and a set of social events. These social events will form an important part of the CDIO 2017 experience and provide opportunities to discuss and network with colleagues from all over the world while enjoying the warm hospitality of Calgary and the beautiful scenery of the nearby Canadian Rockies.

Conference Welcome Reception in the EEEL Building

This event will be a great opportunity to celebrate the opening of the conference, meet other guests, and enjoy finger foods and a glass of wine after registration.  This event takes place in the lobby of the EEEL Building on the University of Calgary campus. EEEL stands for Energy, Environment, Experiential Learning and the building houses undergraduate laboratories for a large number of Engineering and Science courses.  The building received LEED Platinum certification for its sustainable design, construction and operation, putting it in the top 10 buildings in Canada in terms of sustainability.  Given its focus on experiential learning, it is an ideal location to connect prior to the start of CDIO 2017.  Click here to see the location of the EEEL Building on Google Maps.

Conference Poster Reception in the Engineering Lounge

This event will be preceded by the fast-paced and always enjoyable Poster Teaser Session in which poster authors will each have one minute to communicate their work.  Given that the Poster Teaser Session takes place directly after the morning plenary, poster authors are given the attention of the entire conference delegation to describe their work.  Poster authors are then able to discuss their work in more detail during the evening Poster Reception.  This event will take place in the Engineering Lounge of the Canadian Natural Resources Limited Engineering Complex, and it will include light finger food and drinks.

Conference Dinner at the Banff Springs Hotel

20 June 2017

The conference dinner takes place at the Banff Springs Hotel in Banff National Park.  On Tuesday afternoon, conference delegates will be bussed from the University of Calgary campus to Banff townsite (90 minutes) and will have the opportunity to explore the town of Banff on foot.  Conference delegates will then be bussed (or optionally they can walk) the 1.8 km to the Banff Springs Hotel, where the Conference Dinner will be held.  At the conclusion of the dinner, conference delegates will be bussed back to Calgary with stops at the University of Calgary campus, the Hotel Village area, and the downtown core.
